Mayrit. Agua, Piedra, Fuego y Carne: real-time generative light on the first wall of Madrid.
A site-specific work by Ezequiel Nobili for the Luz Madrid 2023 festival. With a poetic, vibrant, ephemeral and unique vision, it sought to revalue and transmit the meaning of the archaeological remains of the first wall of Madrid, on the Cuesta de la Vega.
I developed a TouchDesigner algorithm to drive the real-time generative visuals, controlled live via MIDI throughout the three nights of the festival. Textures were captured from the wall itself, digitally transformed and projected back onto the stone, so the piece was always made of the place it was standing on.
A system of microphones and closed-circuit cameras folded the audience into the work: visitors were projected onto the wall while the stone was projected onto them, creating a light that fed back plastically and reciprocally.
Light art by Ezequiel Nobili. Produced with RGB Corp. Photography by Gerardo Yllera.

Real-Time Generative Visuals, Driven Live from TouchDesigner
Setup: Seven video projectors, robotic cameras, contact and ambient microphones, MIDI controller
Live Parameters: Texture mix + feedback amount + colour ramps + camera blend, all mapped to MIDI and performed live across the three nights of the festival.
